How to use the server

1 - Searching for books and CD-ROMS
You can use different criteria (keyword(s), ISBN) to search from a database of books and CD-ROMS.

1.1 - Search criteria
Please note that searching time may vary according to the number and type of criteria filled in.
- Keyword(s) : Enter one of the words in the title or part of one of the words in the title and/or one or more author's names.
- Full text search within descriptions and tables of contents
- Search by ISBN (please use the ISBN with hyphens).

1.2 - Subject search
The point of searching by subject is obviously to retrieve a subject classified list of titles. However, if your search is on a highly specialized subject, we strongly recommend that you do not carry out a subject search but that, instead, you enter a keyword in the title field (see above).
Please be aware also that not all titles have been subject classified and search results may therefore not always reflect accurately the actual contents of the whole database.

1.3 - Search results
It is possible to select how the results of a search are displayed: results can be ordered by year, author, title or price.
To assist you with your choice, a bibliographical description will then be displayed, the information shown depends on the type of book and the amount of available information from the publishers. Details include the following: author, title, status of the book, language, subject, price, publication date, medium, jacket scan, description, contents table, author's CV etc.
Prices : Prices shown are either definite, approximate or, in some cases, unknown.
Prices are shown as approximate if not recently updated, however, this does not necessarily imply that the actual price will be a lot higher.
Where a price is shown as unknown, you can request the price by filling in the online form. We regret that we cannot necessarily guarantee an immediate response as we will ourselves need to contact the publishers and wait for their reply.

1.4 - Shopping basket
The shopping basket stores the various titles you wish to order until you place the order. If you do not place an order within 2 days, the shopping basket will be emptied.
Price limit: if you wish to order a book shown with an approximate price, we suggest you set an upper price limit. We always undertake to charge the actual list price of a book even if this is below the upper price limit set by you. For instance, if you have chosen a book with an approximate price shown as £45.00 and your upper price limit has been set at £50.00, the book will sent to you if the list price turns out to be £48.00 . However, if the list price is £51.00, the transaction will not go ahead.

1.5 - How to order
Add any titles you wish to order to the shopping basket. Only books included in the shopping basket can be ordered. Delivery will be made to the country selected by you. Do not forget to include either your details (name, first-name, company name or organization, invoice address) or your customer number (either of these must be given) and a delivery address if different from the invoice address.
Once you have finished you will be issued with an order number.
You will then be prompted to select your preferred method of payment:
- credit/Debit Card (with secure transaction)
- on account (if you already have an account with us)

If none of the above is suitable, we also welcome payment by bank transfer or by cheque drawn on a French bank. To expedite the raising of a cheque or bank transfer, it is possible for you to print a PRO-FORMA invoice yourself using your internet browser. We would ask customers to ensure that the reference given is quoted with the payment so that your order may be processed correctly and in good time. We may otherwise be unable to match up the payment with your order.
Please remember to make a note of your order number in case of any query.
